My attempt at painting watercolors. Tried to make cheeks of that monster white, but failed. Need help with the colors, anatomy, perspective, whatever's bad with this. Critique, please. Monster belongs to that guy [link]
I like it too , but I asume you're looking for anything you might have missed yourself. Now I'm no expert, so take everything I say with a grain of salt The perspective seems to be a bit off: compare the monster to the horseman, to me it looks like the monster is viewed from more of a top down angle than the horseman (i'm havin trouble explainin this :S) Frankly other than that, there's not much that I can add, maybe review som horse anatomy, (it looks fine, as it is stylistic, but if you wanted to achieve a more realistic/alive look, you should go get some reference). As for the Samurai, I like the design, however, I think he is a bit to tall. Now this might have something to do with the perspective. Check some reference of men on horseback, and compare the height of their head with that of the horse. At first I didn't notice this, because I felt he looked good, however, his height surpasses the size of the monster, and thus makes it a bit underwhelming.
Other than that this is a solid and great attempt at water color . Try to put in some darker colors too (might be hard with watercolor, but try at least ) to bring out values, and you'll achieve a much stronger effect.
Can't really offer a critique, but I can offer you an opinion ^_^
I honestly love the way it is. To me, it looks as though I'm looking though a window, and into a dream. It looks very dream-like and I really love the colors.
